GPTs what you need to know

It’s been about a week since OpenAI introduced GPTs to Chatgpt Plus and Enterprise users, and everyone’s been experimenting with it.

But what are GPTs, and how can they benefit you as an AI enthusiast?

The Birth of GPTs

GPTs, or custom GPT models, were introduced by OpenAI in November of 2023.

The idea behind GPTs is to allow anyone to create a customized version of ChatGPT, OpenAI’s conversational AI model, for a specific purpose. This could be anything from language learning to technical support.

Anyone can combine instructions, knowledge, and capabilities to create a tailored version of ChatGPT that can be more helpful in their daily life, at work, or at home.

This means you can mold them to perform anything from teaching math to your kids to assisting you in complex board games. (Math GPT and Game Time GPT)

The birth of GPTs has opened up a new world of possibilities for artificial intelligence.

It allows for more personalized and specific AI models to be created, which can be used to help people in a variety of ways.

As GPTs continue to evolve and become more widely used, it will be interesting to see how they shape the future of AI.

Developer and user empowerment

GPTs empower both developers and end-users. For developers, GPTs provide a platform to build and publish conversational AI systems on the GPT Store, an OpenAI-hosted marketplace.

This empowers users with a variety of AI solutions tailored to diverse needs and industries.

Vulnerabilities

Before you go ahead and publish your GPT for the world, just note that users can:

  • Query your tool for the exact instructions that were used to customize it
  • Ask it to download training files, or to copy it to another location

OpenAI would definitely be fixing this, but in the meantime you can try these GPTs safeguarding hacks

Key GPT products

OpenAI has developed several key GPT products that cater to different needs.

These products include ChatGPT, GPT Store, and GPT Builder.

ChatGPT

ChatGPT is a conversational agent that uses GPT technology to generate human-like responses to user inputs.

It is a chatbot that can be used for a variety of tasks, including customer service, personal assistance, and more.

ChatGPT Plus is an improved version of ChatGPT that is capable of more complex conversations and tasks. This is the plan you currently need to tinker with GPTs.

This is the base model, powered by GPT-4, that forms the basis on which custom GPTs may be built.

GPT Store

The GPT Store is a platform that allows developers to publish and browse custom versions of GPTs.

It functions like an app store, where users can find and run GPTs that are tailored to their needs.

The GPT Store is set to launch later this month.

GPT Builder

GPT Builder is a tool that allows users to create their own GPT models without coding inside the ChatGPT interface.

It provides a user-friendly interface that guides users through the process of creating a GPT model, including providing instructions and coding assistance.

Practical applications of GPTs

Personal use

Imagine having an AI that can help you learn new skills, like a foreign language, or provide specialized knowledge on topics like gardening or cooking.

GPTs can be personalized to become your digital tutor or advisor.

Business and work

In the business realm, GPTs can be a game-changer.

From automating customer service to providing real-time assistance in decision-making, you can tailor these AI models to enhance various business functions.

All you need is to create your GPT via the built-in GPT builder inside Chatgpt, connect to your tool or a third-party service via the Actions feature, and you now have a GPT that does something.

Creative industries

If you are a writer, designer, artist, or any other form of creative, you can leverage the power of GPTs to assist you in your creative processes. Use a custom model to draft initial concepts or even refine your final creations.

Education and learning

As an educator, you can create your own GPT that can help craft customized learning experiences.

Craft GPTs for:

  • Specific disciplines (Math, Chemistry, Physics, History)
  • Specific learner difficulties
  • Grade levels

And since you already have lots of docs from your teaching profession, you have great training files to feed your GPT to ensure better outputs.

Another example: Language learning.

You can train a model to help students learn a new language by providing them with grammar rules, vocabulary, and practice exercises.

You may customize it even further so that after a given session, this GPT creates interactive quizzes, and rewards learners for achieving a given score.

……………………………….

GPTs are a groundbreaking innovation in the field of AI, offering personalized, flexible, and adaptable solutions.

As we venture further into this AI-driven era, understanding and utilizing GPTs will be crucial for staying ahead in the game. Keep exploring, keep innovating, and let GPTs guide you into the future of artificial intelligence.
